After the cake smash, we move on to a bubble bath in my adorable little clawfoot tub. Your little one will have a blast playing with bubbles while I capture those cute and candid moments.

It's best to book your cake smash session as soon as you know you want one. I take on a limited number of sessions each month so I can give each family my absolute best. 9 months is a great age to book if you haven’t already.

If you want to have the images to share for their first birthday, scheduling the session around 11 months would be ideal. This way, you'll have the photos ready to celebrate their special day. However, if that's not a dealbreaker for you, you can schedule the session as close to their actual birthday as possible. It's such a magical experience that captures their joy and excitement!

I just ask that you make sure the cake doesn't contain vegetable shortening, as it can stain my backdrops. A simple soft vanilla cake with buttercream is a great choice. Just avoid chocolate cake, as it can look a bit messy when smashed. Let me know if you need any more tips or suggestions!
Is the cake included in the cake smash session?
No worries at all! It's completely normal if your child doesn't want to "smash" the cake during the session. We understand that some kids may not be comfortable with making a mess with food. To help them get used to the idea, you can do a test run at home with some cake and cream, so they can explore and play with it in a familiar environment.
If your little one still doesn't want to smash the cake during the session, no problem! You can bring along some of their favourite snacks that we can place near the cake to encourage their participation. We want them to have a positive and enjoyable experience. And if needed, we can even cut a piece of cake to get them started. Remember, there's no pressure on the kids—they get to decide how they want to engage with the cake. I begin by taking some adorable individual portraits of your child. It's a great way to capture cute expressions before we introduce the cake. Then comes the messy and sensory fun part as your little one gets to "smash" their birthday cake! They can dive right in, explore the textures, and have a blast making a mess. After all the cake smashing excitement, we wrap up the session with a bubble bath in my baby clawfoot bath. The entire experience is truly delightful, and you'll have wonderful memories to cherish forever. It's such a special way to celebrate your child's milestone!

Cake smash sessions are held at my warm and cosy home studio in Amberley. It's a comfortable and inviting environment that helps kids feel at ease and allows them to be themselves during the session. It's the perfect setting for capturing those precious moments!
Where are Cake smash sessions held?
I have all the outfits, props, and accessories you will need. Just remember to bring a towel and a change of clothes for after the bath. It's also a good idea to bring your usual nappy bag with snacks and water for your little one. If your child takes a little while to warm up, bringing their favourite toy and snacks can help them settle in and feel more comfortable.

HOW DO I BOOK?
I recommend booking your maternity session around 20 weeks. The best time for these sessions is between 28 and 36 week, preferably 30-34 weeks. This timeframe allows you to have a lovely round belly and still be comfortable during the session. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out!
